Russia - The spy who loved me
Founded in 1703 by Peter the Great as a ‘window on the West’, and named in honour of St. Peter, St. Petersburg is a testament to the grandeur of Imperial Russia under the Tsars. With its Imperial past, St. Petersburg is one of the most fascinating and beautiful cities to visit at any time of year. There is a feast of museums, galleries and palaces to visit, many amongst the finest in Europe, as well as theatre, classical concerts, the famous Mariinsky Ballet and an exciting and vibrant nightlife.
Napoleon’s famous quote “If I capture Kiev, I take Russia by its feet, if I capture St. Petersburg, I’ll take it by its head and if I capture Moscow, I’ll destroy its heart” encapsulates the significance of Moscow to Russians. Its history, often bloody, is none the less enthralling and as modern day Russia exerts new influence in the world Moscow rightly deserves its position as one of the world’s great cities. We offer a totally tailor made experience to either St. Petersburg, Moscow or both.
