Ultimate Icelandic Winter Adventure
This is the ultimate adventure experience. On challenging off road terrain you will drive modified 4x4 vehicles to discover glaciers, erupting geysers, lava fields, waterfalls and the Golden Circle. We suggest a 3 night adventure to ensure that you can fit in as much as possible.
DAY 1: Fly Iceland. Transfer to hotel.Fly to Reykjavik.
On arrival have a flybus transfer to your hotel. We feature the Borg or 101 Design Hotel, both in the centre of Reykjavik. Rest of the day is free.
Reykjavik is a gourmand’s paradise with some of the best seafood restaurants you will find anywhere in the world. We would recommend the Perlan Restaurant. While your taste buds delight to superb cuisine under a huge glass dome, you will enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of Reykjavik and the surroundings as the restaurant gently completes a full rotation every two hours.
DAY 2: Experience the thrill of driving yourself in modified 4x4 vehicles off road to explore the Golden Circle, stunning waterfalls, easy hikes, 11th Century excavated Viking settlement farm.
After learning how to drive the modified Land Rover Defender you will drive around the Golden Circle visiting the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall, the Geyser area where every 5 minutes an eruption takes place and the becalming beauty of Pingvellir, with its spectacular mini rift valley and home to the world’s first democratic parliament, established by the Vikings in 930.
After lunch at Hotel Geysir you will drive to the Þjórsárdalur Valley, where you will drive along insider tracks where your new found driving skill will start to be really tested. You will explore the 11th Century excavated Viking settlement Stöng, the Gjain waterfall, and Háifoss, the second highest waterfall of Iceland, as well as take some short hikes. You will then drive south to Hotel Ranga, your hotel for the next two nights.
Relax with a drink in one of the outdoor hot tubs and watch the skies to see if the Northern Lights appear. Although there is never any guarantee of seeing this wonderful natural phenomena, the hotel is in one of the best places in Iceland to see the aurora. Also as the hotel lies in a secluded, countryside area without external lighting the hotel provides excellent opportunity to view the Northern Lights without interference or pollution.
DAY 3: Continue your off road adventure through glacial rivers to Thorsmork, Seljalndsfoss waterfall, Stakkholtsgja gorge. 2 hr glacier hike.
Driving over rugged gravel roads and fording various glacial rivers you drive into the glacier valley stopping on route to visit the picturesque waterfall Seljalandsfoss and the spectacular gorge Stakkholtsgjá. On arrival to Thorsmörk you will go on a 1 hr hike and eat a packed lunch in breathtaking surroundings. After lunch we will make a detour for you to experience the black basaltic shoreline by the Atlantic ocean. Thereafter you have a choice of A la carte optional extras.

Drive to the glacier tongue Sólheimajökul to explore the glacier. You will take a 2 hour walk on the magnificent glacier and observe the spectacular surroundings. We will provide you with all the tools you need: ice axes, crampons and safety lines.

In the afternoon take a thrilling 1hr snow mobile ride over the snowcovered plateau on the magnificent glacier Mýrdalsjökull
Afterwards you will head back to the hotel to have the opportunity to enjoy the geothermal tubs outside and relax after an adventurous day, and a second chance to spot the Northern Lights.
DAY 4: Drive to airport via Blue Lagoon
After breakfast and drive to Iceland’s most famous attraction the Blue Lagoon. Enjoy bathing and relaxing in the geothermal seawater, known for its positive effects on the skin. In addition to bathing there is a sauna with a view of the lagoon, a steam bath with white walls that resemble silica mud and a cosy steam bath carved into a lava cave. The milky waters and silica are famous for their health benefits. Finally drive onto the airport for your flight home.
