Tallinn - Baltic charm
In our recommended itinerary we have kept a clear day to allow you to fit in one or more of our experience enhancements. Alternatively, we can tailor make a longer stay to fit in more to your incentive:
The artist’s studio – Estonian sculptor Tauno Kangro opens his studio and talks about his paintings and sculptures. This precedes a workshop where each person is able to construct a work of art for taking home with them.
Medieval battle – Receive training in medieval warfare prior to splitting into two groups and being armed with ‘ soft weapons’ of swords lances and shields to practice the skills.
Medieval monastery experience – Be welcomed with fire torches and follow your host through the dark monastery rooms by the light of torches accompanied by medieval music. During the programme the host tells about the monastery’s history and architecture, monastic life, lost fortunes and legends related to the Dominicans. At the same time admire the work of local stone masons: carved stone lintels, area stones, fragments of window pillars, etc. A stop is made at the medieval “well of wishes” where monastery liqueur is served.
Bow shooting – 30 Minutes from Tallinn is a bow shooting range where full tuition and competition can be arranged.
Medieval feast – Olde Hansa was established to honour the Hanseatic League and allows you a glimpse of Tallinn’s golden age. Olde Hansa is the home of a rich merchant designed to increase the enjoyment of the happy moments in the life of a Hanseatic merchant. There are 8 different feasts served in the Saxon Chamber. Feasts are offered to a minimum of 6 guests and the household has set 2 hours for the duration of the feast.
Private Estonian manor – On the southern tip of the Muhu Island, in southern Estonia, Pädaste Manor welcomes you. This 16th Century exclusive retreat on the Estonian Coast has 4 rooms and 8 suites with private balconies and picturesque views over the bay. Carefully prepared meals of the new Estonian Cuisine are served either on the sea view terrace or inside by the intimate fireplace, accompanied by a well-selected bottle from the manor wine cellar. Luxurious touches are a SPA and private cinema where you can lay back and enjoy the best movies ever made. Fill your time sailing, mountain-biking, fishing, horse-back riding, guided nature walks, hunting and much more.
Golf – Golf is a new sport to the Baltic’s and the Niitvälja golf course, the oldest in the region, was completed in 1994. You will find it both beautiful and challenging with half of the course set in the forest.
German heritage – This day out allows a glimpse into Estonian life. In the morning visit the Rocca al Mare open air museum with 64 buildings from different centuries showing the rural life of Estonia, the oldest being a wooden church built in 1699. Lunch is recommended at the national tavern “Kolu Kõrts” in the museum where you can sample some national cuisine. Afternoon tour to Lahemaa National park with visits to Baltic German manors Sagadi and Palmse, Kiiu tower – the smallest fortress in Estonia where you can also taste the egg liquer “Kiiu Tower”.
Helsinki – Helsinki lies 2 hours by fast jet across the Baltic and offers the opportunity to visit the scenic capital of Finland. The hotel can arrange picnic lunches for you and you will be able to experience much of central Helsinki in half a day.
Miscellaneous – The Hotel Telegraff has an excellent Spa where all manner of treatments can be arranged. We also can organize a private wine tasting.
