Doges Ball at Venice Carnival
Bauer Il Palazzo
Often voted the best hotel in Venice, in terms of luxury, style location and ambience, nothing really matches the Bauer IL Palazzo. Since opening its doors in 1880 the Bauer has set the standard for hospitality in Venice.
The guest list reads like a who’s who of Prime Ministers, statesmen and Industrialists. This magnificent Palazzo with its stunning gothic façade reflects Venetian opulence at is best and with its wonderful location on the Grand Canal this offers the special occasion traveler the ultimate experience. Being only 50 meters from St Marks Square it is also the best situated of Venice’s grand hotels.
The Metropole
The Hotel Metropole is located in the heart of Venice, overlooking the lagoon and San Marco basin and only 400 meters from St Marks Square. Bedrooms are elegantly furnished with original period furniture, precious velvets, exotic scents, old books and silver chandeliers.
All rooms include satellite television, minibars, and marble bathrooms with hair dryers and toiletries made by Gilchrist & Soames. The Met Restaurant is the only Michelin-starred hotel restaurant in Venice, and one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants in the whole city. The atmosphere is intimate and sophisticated, the service attentive and discreet.
The Monaco and Grand Canal
Situated in a sensational location on a narrow cobblestone path south of Piazza San Marco, this hotel faces the Grand Canal. This is not your average family-run hotel; the owners, the Benito family, operate Benetton, the global multibillion-dollar fashion conglomerate. Renovated a few years back, the hotel shows new decor that follows the owners’ unconventional contemporary approach to business.
Typically Venetian decoration and antique furnishings in both the public areas and guest bedrooms, together with unrivalled views over the Grand Canal, make this the hotel for those wishing to experience the real magic of Venice.
